‘During peak times it is more practical to hire a cobot for a short period of time than to hire an employee’

Cobot

A cobot, or collaborative robot, is a robot designed for direct human-robot contact in a shared area or in close proximity to people. Traditional industrial robot applications, in which robots are segregated from human contact, contrast with cobot applications.

Why Cobots and not Industrial Robots?

The most basic distinction between cobots and industrial robots is that cobots are designed to work alongside human employees, whereas industrial robots do tasks in their place. A cobot can help employees with tasks that are too risky, hard, or tedious for them to complete on their own, resulting in a safer, more efficient workplace without removing manufacturing positions involved in product creation.

Industrial robots, on the other hand, are utilised to automate the manufacturing process almost fully without the assistance of humans on the factory floor. As a result, employees can focus on more meaningful jobs that are less boring and less likely to cause repetitive motion injuries.

Advantages of using Cobots!

Productivity in the manufacturing business has been gradually growing in recent years. Using cobots is one approach to boost productivity. Collaborative robots, or cobots, are robots that collaborate with humans in a shared workspace. As a result, in this blog, we’ll go over some benefits of cobots in process automation.

1. Programmed within half an hour

Traditional robots require a great deal of knowledge and time to programme actions, and they can only do one thing at a time. A cobot, unlike the standard industrial robots already in use, is simple to programme. Cobots may learn new actions using user-friendly software and mobile applications. You can also manually position a cobot and save the results in the software. Because a cobot is so simple to create, it can be swiftly integrated into a process and even be programmed to execute many jobs.

2. Installed within half an hour

Installing a robot usually takes a few days (or even weeks) before it is ready to use. Installing a cobot, on the other hand, takes around half an hour, and with the help of the user-friendly software, a cobot may finish its first work in under an hour. As a result, a cobot can be used as a temporary or flexible employee who can do a variety of jobs in several departments.

3. More consistent and accurate than humans.

Unlike humans, cobots are very accurate. The Franka Emika Panda for example; this cobot can perform actions with an accuracy of 0.1 mm. In addition, a cobot will never deviate from its actions and will always perform tasks with the same power. For example, tightening screws, this will always be done with the same tension and pressure which ensures consistency in quality.

4. Increased productivity and process optimization.

Of course, the primary purpose of robotization is to improve a process. In other words, obtaining the highest possible goal at the lowest possible expense. Errors are reduced, personnel have more time to do other things, productivity rises, and finally, a better operating result is achieved. Setting up and outfitting a cobot is clearly an investment, but it saves money in the long run and even generates a profit.

That was all about the cobot, which is one step closer to a world when robots are replaced by cobots, making life simpler for humans.
